“Dear God, let me be something every minute of every hour of my life.
january: i learned to ski (or just became really good at snow plow)
february: i didn’t have any valentines, but i bought a huge box of apples and that is basically the same thing.
Let me be gay; let me be sad.
march: i turned 21! i also went to a classy restaurant for dinner and spent about my a week’s worth of grocery money on an awesome meal
may: my cousin did the ironman triathlon in st. george, and we cheered him on
Let me be cold; let me be warm.
june: my mom and i went to seattle to explore the city and to run the rock n roll half marathon
and ate a lot of memorable food (best part!)
Let me be hungry…have too much to eat.
july: my family took a trip to denver, colorado to visit family… and to see the beach boys at the red rocks!
i also soaked up summer and tried to drag out days with my friends between long hours at work
my friends started leaving on missions right and left. i miss them
Let me be ragged or well-dressed.
august: i lived with my grandma all summer, and we became good friends
i hiked with my cousin up to the top of y mount… and was sore for the rest of the month.
Let me be sincere- be deceitful.
september: i began my studies and living in madrid
october: brought lots of great outings with this girl, this one being to mansanarez el real, madrid, to hike.
Let me be truthful; let me be a liar.
i went to paris with my friends and had the time of my life
i also fulfilled a dream of seeing bon iver in concert
november: we took a whirlwind trip to portugal. it was awesome
Let me be honorable and let me sin.
i didn’t let thanksgiving slide… we had a vegetarian feast!
i went to austria to see what it was all about
and budapest, hungary, too.
december: we found snow in the mountains!
Only let me be something every blessed minute.
i took lots of walks in madrid to admire the light displays
and then went to london
i formed al the memories i could in alcalá de henares
and i came to really love this hilarious spanish family of mine
and then i got to spend christmas with my family! even if it was in the hospital
And when I sleep, let me dream all the time so that not one little piece of living is ever lost”-A Tree Grows In Brooklyn
this was such a great year-
i was so lucky to be able to do the things i did, see the things i saw, and continue to try to mold myself into the person i’d like to become. here’s to a new year, new opportunities, and new possibilities!
